Select Project 11 — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Select Project 11

I will enter this command today. I spent another 30 minutes trying to figure out what number gets assigned to a project — it appears to be the order in which they are opened *but* if you close a project all projects that were higher numbered will shift down by one.

Hmmm.

Octave 1 — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Octave 1

Set the octave of the Step Input Keyboard. Will set the octave starting at C1.

A more typical case would be to use the Z and X keys for shifting octaves — just like on little 25 key keyboards with octave up/down buttons.

I suspect that with practice I could become a MIDI note “touch-typist”.Keyboard

Use step input recording techniques — Logic Pro X

Step input allows you to insert MIDI notes when you’re not recording in real time. You can use step input to create note runs that may be too fast for you to play or to replicate sheet music that’s too difficult for you to play.

Go to Marker Number… ⌥/ — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Go to Marker Number… ⌥/

If I am going to go to a numbered marker I suspect that I will actually be sitting at a keyboard. This is the appropriate command for numbered markers — keypress, enter number, return.

Markers overview — Logic Pro X

When Show Advanced Tools is selected in the Advanced preferences pane, you can use markers to tag different parts of a project, and quickly select the parts for playback, arranging, and editing. Markers can help you organize your project, and also act as storage areas for locator positions.

Stem Position: Center — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Stem Position: Center

Move note stems to the center of the note head. Looks odd. I can’t find a reference to where centered stems are used in notation. The internet is not helpful today. I don’t think I will worry about it 😉

Change stem direction, length, and beaming — Logic Pro X

By default, a note’s stem direction and length depend on the settings in the Staff Style window. You can change these attributes to improve readability; for example, to group notes meant to be played as a voice in a polyphonic passage.
