New Tracks for Selected Regions — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  New Tracks for Selected Regions

Creates new tracks for the selected regions. The clarification in the documentation is that a new track will be created for each _source_ track, not a new track for each region. All the regions from ‘Track A’ get moved to a new track, ‘Track A New’.

Create tracks using existing channel strips in Logic Pro — Apple Support

In Logic Pro, select the regions, then choose Track > Other > New Track For Selected Regions.

The selected regions are moved from the source track to the new track, which uses the same channel strip as the source track. In other words, only one channel strip is used for all tracks.

If you use this command with regions selected across several tracks, a new track is created for each source track. For example, if you select regions on three source tracks, three new tracks will be created for the regions.

New Track with Duplicate Settings and Content — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

New Track with Duplicate Settings and Content

The typical duplicate track command keeps everything the same (including channel!) but doesn’t reproduce the content. This variant of the command duplicates the content as well.

A bit simpler than creating the track, then selecting and copying (copy/paste or option-drag) the content to the new track.

You can duplicate a track, creating a new track below the original track with the same instrument and effects settings. The duplicate track is empty, and does not contain any regions.

Show/Hide Global Tracks G — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

global tracks display
  Show/Hide Global Tracks G

Show or hide the global tracks (Arrangement, Markers, Tempo, etc.) beneath the time ruler. Even when the Marker track is hidden a small marker ruler appears below the timeline. The Marquee ruler (when being displayed) is just below the markers. Global tracks appear below the rulers.

Logic Pro global tracks overview — Apple Support

Logic Pro includes a set of global tracks that you can use to control different aspects of the overall project. You can show global tracks in the Tracks area and in the time-based editors (including the Audio Track Editor, Piano Roll Editor, and Step Editor). When you show the global tracks, they appear below the ruler for that particular area.

Global tracks can be displayed in the Tracks area and in the time-based editors (including the Audio Track Editor, Piano Roll Editor, and Step Editor). In each window, global tracks appear below the ruler. You can select which global tracks to display, and resize and reorder global tracks. By default, the Arrangement, Marker, Signature, and Tempo tracks are visible when you show the global tracks.

Select All Following ⇧F — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Select All Following ⇧F

There are multiple meanings of “all following”.

In the Score Editor you can select all of the notes following the current selection.

Select notes in the Logic Pro Score Editor — Apple Support

Choose Edit > Select All Following.

In the tracks area you can select all of the following regions for a project, not simply a track. I am not quite sure about this behavior. It appears that ‘Select All Following’ will select all regions, on any track, that start later in the timeline (following.) Markers are included in the selection.

It appears that all ‘events’ following the current event are selected. Select all following works infall of the lists.

Delete and Select Next Region/Event — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Delete and Select Next Region/Event

Deletes the selected region(s)/event(s) and selects the next region.

When you delete a region with the Erase tool or the delete key only the selected regions are deleted. There is no longer a selection.

You can delete one or more regions if you don’t want to use them in your project. When you delete a region, you can move the regions that follow in the track to fill in the empty space left by the deleted region.
