Logic Pro Step Editor Overview — Apple Support

The Step Editor is a graphical editor that can be used to create or edit MIDI note and controller data. You can use the Step Editor to view and edit different MIDI event types, shown as vertical beams—or steps—along a timeline within a region.

MIDI In Toggle ⌥I — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  MIDI In Toggle ⌥I

Enable/disable step input recording from MIDI devices. When MIDI Input is “on” the MIDI In indicator turns red. The MIDI In and MIDI Out indicators are found at the top of the Event List, and at the top of the Piano Roll Editor

You can record notes into the Piano Roll Editor directly when the MIDI In button is activated using step recording techniques. See Use step input recording. Make sure the MIDI Out button is activated so that you can hear notes that you add, select, or click.

Use step input recording in Logic Pro — Apple Support

In Logic Pro, inserting notes with a MIDI keyboard is similar to using the Step Input keyboard. However, you press keys on your real-world MIDI keyboard, rather than clicking onscreen keyboard notes.

Select Tracks and Set Default Region/Cell Parameters by Region/Cell/Folder — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Select Tracks and Set Default Region/Cell Parameters by Region/Cell/Folder

It isn’t clear what this command actually does. I selected a number of regions on separate tracks. I issued the command. The Region inspector now reads “Audio Defaults”. Nothing has changed on any of the tracks (now all selected) or any of the regions.

Logic Pro Region inspector — Apple Support

If no region is selected, the upper line of the Region inspector displays the text Default Settings. The region parameter settings displayed are applied to newly recorded regions as realtime playback settings.

Toggle Hide Group 63 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Toggle Hide Group 63

Change the hide state of group 63. There is no group 63. The maximum group is 32. Maybe in a future release.

Still keeping groups in mind. Possibly use groups during mix and routing setup, then disabling during mixing.

Possibly a combination of a group for every summing stack?

Overview of groups in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You can also automate a group. This lets you easily set the change for parameters of a group of channel strips over the course of a project. For example, you may wish to group all of your guitar channel strips together and have all of their relative volumes change at the same time throughout your project. For more information on automation, see Overview of automation in Logic Pro.

Close Project ⌥⌘W — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Close Project ⌥⌘W

Close the current project. If there are any unsaved changes Logic will prompt you to save the changes.

‘Close Project without saving’ is ⌃⌥⌘W

Save Logic Pro projects — Apple Support

Logic Pro autosaves your work so that you don’t lose important changes if the app quits unexpectedly. Logic Pro shows a dialog when you reopen the project, asking if you want to use the autosaved version. If you choose not to, Logic Pro opens the last manually saved version of the project.
