Snap Mode: Bar — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Snap Mode: Bar

Snap to the nearest bar on the grid. I find this best for loops and setting up markers/arrangements. I always forget that the playhead uses the snap value.

Snap items to the grid — Logic Pro X

The Tracks area includes a grid that helps you align regions, automation points, and other items with the time divisions in the ruler. When you perform any of the following actions, the items move according to the current Snap value:

Moving and resizing regions

Moving the playhead

Adjusting the cycle region

Dragging loops to the Tracks area

Moving automation points in automation curves

Show/Hide Beat Mapping Track Only — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Show/Hide Beat Mapping Track Only

I have not figured out the difference between “Show/Hide Beat Mapping Track” and the “… Only” version of the command…

In the Arrange window the Beat Mapping track is toggled. In the Audio Editor (Track) there is a difference. The “only” version of the command places the Beat Mapping track above the audio. The other version shows the Arrangement, Marker, Signature, and Tempo tracks as well.

Beat mapping overview — Logic Pro X

Beat mapping lets you map notes that don’t follow a strict tempo with beats in the ruler. When you play the project, the project tempo adjusts so that the beat-mapped notes are aligned with beats in the ruler.

Toggle Current Track Automation Latch/Read ⌃⌘A — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Toggle Current Track Automation Latch/Read ⌃⌘A

Switch current track automation between Latch and Read. Changes the Automation label to appropriate value. Changes the Automation controls on MCU to correspond.

Choose automation modes — Logic Pro X

Automation modes determine how automation tracks are treated. Automation is either being read or being written. You can independently set the automation mode for each track. You can also trim automation values and record relative automation data.

Go to Marker Number 7 𝍖7 — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day. #LogicProX @StudioIntern1

Go to Marker Number 7  𝍖 7 - keypad 7

𝍖 key was hard to find

Markers by numbers. 20 of them! The idea and concept of jumping around in audio by a number makes no sense to me. Jump to arrangement position (chorus, verse), del signo, even bar numbers for reading a score.

I use markers. I listen to mixes and drop markers where I want to go look. Best for me for listening is to listen on headphones and use the X-Touch (MCU) for transport and inserting markers. Don’t look at the tracks at all.

I posted an entry with the excerpt from the manual — Mackie Control Markers

NB — I have removed all 20 of the keypad go to marker commands. I will eventually find a suitable set of commands to place there. Why waste 20 good key commands? If I want to get to a marker by number I can just use “Go to Marker Number (⌥/ — option-/) and enter the number. I am more likely to use next/previous marker with the set locators feature (Go to next marker and set locators) — option-comma and option-period (⌥, and ⌥.) think left/right

whee!

Show/Hide Note Pad ⌥⌘P — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day. #LogicProX @StudioIntern1

  Show/Hide Note Pad ⌥⌘P

The menu command is “Show Note Pads” using the plural.

The Note Pad is a very under-used tool. I am clearly guilty of it.

There are “pages” in the Note Pad for the project, and one for each track.

If you use Alternatives (I do a lot): the Note Pad contents are Alternative specific. Separate sets of notes for each alternative.

Text files cannot be “dropped” into the Note Pad, but images and PDF files can be.

It would be great if the Note Pad could be “detached” from the Arrange window and allowed to float in the project.
