Nudge Region/Event Position Left by Bar — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Nudge Region/Event Position Left by Bar

Moving regions based on position (bars, beats) is very handy. Cause the selected region(s) to be moved to the left by one bar. There is a “fence” at bar 1 — no nudging left before this point in the project.

You can also nudge regions (move them in small increments) left or right using key commands. To nudge regions, you first set the nudge value, then move selected regions by this value. Alternatively, you can nudge regions by a set value.

Show/Hide Staff Style Window ⌃⌥⇧S — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Show/Hide Staff Style Window ⌃⌥⇧S

As written. Working with scores is “fussy” work. Things need to look just right. Quick switch to get the tools in front for a moment.

The state of the Staff Style window is saved in screenset data. There appears to be a “refresh bug” when switching screensets having the style window open. The outline of the window appears, but it is not filled in

Staff Style window — Logic Pro X

You view and edit staff style parameters in the Staff Style window. The upper part of the window shows a list of available staff styles, with a visual representation of the selected staff style. The lower part shows the staffs that are used for the selected staff style, with parameters for each staff. The voices used for each staff are listed to the right.

Delete Duplicated MIDI Events ⌥D — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Delete Duplicated MIDI Events ⌥D

The definition of “Duplicated” is important to know. It is in the documentation. Essentially a duplicate MIDI event as defined by position, channel, and number, the value of the event is ignored. Works on the selected region.

Always good to know what will really happen when you invoke the command.

Delete notes in the Piano Roll Editor — Logic Pro X

Any events occurring twice or more at the same position (and pitch) are deleted, allowing one to remain. This is true regardless of whether the duplicates have different velocity, aftertouch, or controller values. Events on different MIDI channels are not considered duplicates.

Attach Symbol: Accent — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Attach Symbol: Accent

Add an accent mark to a note (or rest?) in a score. There are fine controls for what an accent does when played (increased MIDI velocity)

Add accents and other symbols to notes — Logic Pro X

The Part box includes symbols such as accents, fermatas, phrasing marks, bow markings, and others that apply to a single note, over which the symbol appears. (Trills are in a separate section).

MIDI Meaning settings — Logic Pro X

These settings determine if, and to what extent, the insertion of the listed symbols affects the MIDI playback of notes (that these symbols are attached to).
