  Previous Plug-in Setting or EXS Instrument

Change the settings to the previous setting in the list of settings. At the top of instrument and plugin windows there is a menu to select presets. Below that are left and right arrows which are the “Previous” and “Next” selectors.

I find the buttons convenient for sampling presets.

However, the freakiest of the lot comes courtesy of Melda, in the form of their MFreeformPhase plug-in, which allows completely variable frequency-selective phase adjustment via an EQ-like graphical interface. So, for example, if you don’t like what comb-filtering is doing to the low midrange, you can adjust the phase relationships there without affecting the rest of the spectrum.

I did something this week that I rarely do these days, I went to another studio to produce some vocals. Why would I go to another studio? I could have walked up to the end of my garden (yard for my American cousins) which takes all of 30 seconds on a long commute, and had the talent come to me. But how can you back up this new plug-in folder layout? What happens if you have to reinstall Logic or your hard drive crashes, or you are migrating to a new computer? Fortunately, there is a simple way to back up the results of your re-organization. All the information resides in a database folder within your User folder. Here is the exact location:

User —> Music —> Audio MIDI Apps —> Databases —> Tags

It’s almost impossible to walk into any commercial studio and not see at least one Pultec EQ in the rack. In production from the early 1950s to the early 80s, Pultec EQs have played an integral part in nearly 50 years of recording history — from tracking to mixing to mastering. Universal Audio has recreated three classic models from the Pultec line with the Pultec Passive EQ Plug-In Collection: the EQP-1A Program EQ, the MEQ-5 Midrange EQ, and the HLF-3C Filter Set. All offer a ton of practical and musical possibilities.

UAD offered up some settings to show off the Pultec EQs. I made some presets for Logic Pro X ‘Vintage EQ’ plugin. Similar results when I pass the audio through the Logic built-ins.
