  Set Quantize Tool

Set the primary tool to Quantize. Available in the Piano Roll editor and the Score Editor.

You can set the Quantize tool by typing ‘TQ’ in the appropriate editor. The ‘T’ opens the tool selection menu, the ‘Q’ chooses the Quantize tool. Return to the Pointer tool by typing ‘TT’.

Quantize the timing of notes in the Piano Roll Editor — Logic Pro X

You can quantize, or automatically correct, the timing of individual MIDI notes in the Piano Roll Editor. This is useful when regions in the track contain the right notes, but are not perfectly in time with the project. When you quantize the timing, items are adjusted to the selected note value. You can quantize the timing of regions with drums, single-note instruments, and chordal or polyphonic instruments.

Toggle Channel Strip Arpeggiator — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day. #LogicProX @StudioIntern1

  Toggle Channel Strip Arpeggiator

Turns the MIDI FX Arpeggiator on and off. NB the Arpeggiator is the only MIDI FX that has a command available from the Mac keyboard.

The Arpeggiator is completely controllable from the external MIDI device that is assigned to the channel. ‘Toggle Channel Strip Arpeggiator’ can be accomplished by having the MIDI device send a NoteOn for the “stop” button.

You can “re-program” the keys that control the arpeggiator by dragging them in the plugin editor window. Far more control than the original arpeggiator found in the MIDI Environment.

MIDI FX plugins are only available on Software Instrument channels.

Arpeggiator overview — Logic Pro X

The Arpeggiator MIDI plug-in generates musically interesting arpeggios based on incoming MIDI notes. It provides split and remote features that let you control nearly all Arpeggiator functions without taking your hands off the keyboard, making it a powerful live performance tool.

Control Multiple Instruments on Different MIDI Channels — Logic Pro Help

Control Multiple Instruments on Different MIDI Channels — Logic Pro Help

Controlling multiple instruments on different MIDI channels in Logic is easy, and it does not require you to ever open the environment! It also allows you to record different controller keyboards on different software instrument or external MIDI tracks. Whether you’re trying to use an external sequencer (like an MPC 2000, or even another computer running Logic) to trigger instruments within Logic, or whether you’re simply trying to play different instruments using different MIDI controllers, read on.

Toggle Channel Display Default of Multi-Instrument — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day. #LogicProX @StudioIntern1

Toggle Channel Display Default of Multi-Instrument

This command (apparently) affects the Environment display of Multi-Instruments. The only (semi) useful documentation about the MIDI Environment is in the user guide for earlier version of Logic Pro. The best descriptions I can find are in the Logic Pro 9 manuals.

Logic Pro 9 User Manual: Getting to Know the Environment

The Environment refers to the virtual environment of Logic Pro inside your computer. It was developed to allow complete control over your MIDI setup.

Toggle MIDI Remote for Articulation Switches — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day. #LogicProX @StudioIntern1

Toggle MIDI Remote for Articulation Switches

When MIDI Remote is “on” MIDI events can be used to change the articulation. The standard MIDI messages are found starting with the C0 Note On. It would be nice if I could program the A-1 key on the piano to toggle MIDI Remote without sending the Note On back to the piano. I guess I should just turn down the piano speakers when I am using it as a controller.

Manage articulations for software instruments — Logic Pro X

If an Articulation Set is loaded, you can select between articulations using the Articulations pop-up menu in the plug-in window header. Some software instruments let you view the most recently played articulation in the plug-in interface as well.

Use the Articulation Set Editor in Logic Pro — Apple Support

The Articulation Set Editor can be used to create sophisticated key switch and controller switch definitions, and define output transformations, which enables compatibility with third party sample libraries. You can also use the Articulation Set Editor to create Articulation Sets for instruments that have assigned Articulation IDs to sample groups, but do not have pre-configured articulations. For example, some Sampler instruments come pre-configured with specific sample groups identified by an Articulation ID but do not have pre-configured Articulation Sets. For more information on how Sampler uses Articulation IDs, see Logic Pro Sampler articulation handling.
