Randomize Current Edit Mode Values for All Rows ⇧⌘R — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Randomize Current Edit Mode Values for All Rows ⇧⌘R

The Step Sequencer is, essentially, a new application for Logic Pro X. Lots to learn. Back to the 1990s for my sequencing days…

Edit Step Sequencer steps in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You can edit individual steps in several ways, including cutting, copying, and pasting steps. You can also repeat a step, decrement or increment the values of all steps in a row, transpose all steps in a pattern by semitones or octaves, randomize values for all steps in a row or all steps in the pattern, and reset steps to default values.

Edit Step Sequencer rows in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You can edit Step Sequencer rows in a variety of ways, including copying and pasting rows or row settings, duplicating a row with the next row assignment, changing the row assignment, resetting row values to a default setting, and deleting a row.

Modify Step Sequencer pattern playback in Logic Pro — Apple Support

Some options in Step Sequencer control how and when steps play back, and can be fun to manipulate while the pattern is playing. For example, you can mute and solo rows, rotate rows (moving all steps in a row left or right, including their step values and other edit mode settings), and change the playback mode for the pattern or for a row, and perform other actions while the pattern is playing. In addition to controls and menu items, Step Sequencer includes a collection of key commands to facilitate making these and other changes in real time, see Step Sequencer key commands.

Set Nudge Value to 5 SMPTE Frame — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Set Nudge Value to 5 SMPTE Frame

Sets the nudge value to 5 SMPTE frames (approximately one sixth of a second). Synchronizing audio with video is not a typical task for me, but it is good to know that the alignment tasks can be helped with _mouse free_ editing commands.

Set the nudge value, use the nudge commands while looking and listening.

Move regions in the Logic Pro Tracks area — Apple Support

You can nudge regions (move them in small increments) left or right using key commands. To nudge regions, you first set the nudge value, then move selected regions by this value. Alternatively, you can nudge regions by a set value.

Show/Hide Signature List — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Show/Hide Signature List

Shows the signature list. Key signatures can be seen in the control bar LCD, on the Signature Track, and in the Signature list.

There is a separate command for displaying the Signature List in a separate window — ‘Open Signature List…’.

Show/Hide Signature List opens the List Editors panel (on the right side of the Arrange window) and selects the Signature list.

Logic Pro Signature List interface — Apple Support

The Signature List shows all the time and key signature changes in your project, as well as any score symbols in the project score. You can create, copy, move, and delete time and key signature events in the Signature List.

New Tracks for Selected Regions — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  New Tracks for Selected Regions

Creates new tracks for the selected regions. The clarification in the documentation is that a new track will be created for each _source_ track, not a new track for each region. All the regions from ‘Track A’ get moved to a new track, ‘Track A New’.

Create tracks using existing channel strips in Logic Pro — Apple Support

In Logic Pro, select the regions, then choose Track > Other > New Track For Selected Regions.

The selected regions are moved from the source track to the new track, which uses the same channel strip as the source track. In other words, only one channel strip is used for all tracks.

If you use this command with regions selected across several tracks, a new track is created for each source track. For example, if you select regions on three source tracks, three new tracks will be created for the regions.
