Toggle Count-in ⇧K — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Toggle Count-in ⇧K

Turn ‘Count-in’ on and off.

Use the metronome in Logic Pro — Apple Support

Click the Count-in button in the control bar to have the metronome play a predefined count-in before recording starts.

“K” is for Klopfgeist | Logic Pro

Klopfgeist is the software instrument that powers Logic’s Metronome function. For many of us, there’s not much more to think about with the Klopfgeist other than enabling the Metronome and hitting “record.” But there’s plenty to dig into with our trusty and unwavering click. Whether it be for utility or creativity.

The best translation of Klopfgeist I have seen is “rapping spirit”.

Play from Beginning — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Cursor points to STOP button
  Play from Beginning

Move the playhead to the beginning of the project and start playing. Rather than assigning a command for this I simply press Return (go to beginning) and Space (start playback).

On the X-Touch I can use the transport STOP button. If currently playing pressing STOP stops playback, a second press returns to the beginning.

Control playback in Logic Pro with the transport buttons — Apple Support

You can use the transport buttons in the control bar to control playback, or to set the playhead position. You can click the buttons to activate or deactivate functions, or use the corresponding key commands to speed up your workflow.

Toggle Hide Group 34 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Toggle Hide Group 34

Toggle the hidden state of group 34. Currently the documentation says that you can only have 32 groups. Commands for groups 33-64 were added to Logic at some point, and I declared them to be bogons. At some point Logic has actually made it possible for there to be 64 groups. For me, once you pass about 8 groups you have too many to remember by number and have to have visual support, like the Groups window.

Oddly? The Groups window can only be sized tall enough to accommodate viewing 33 groups. You need to scroll to see things from group 34 onward.

You can have a maximum of 32 groups, and a channel strip can be a member of multiple groups.

Open/Close Audio Insert 7 Plug-in Window of focused Track — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Open/Close Audio Insert 7 Plug-in Window of focused Track

Opens or closes the plug-in window of the seventh insert on the channel. We’re almost beyond easy recognition of which insert this will actually work with.

Work in the plug-in window in Logic Pro — Apple Support

The header area at the top of a plug-in window is common to all plug-ins. You can use it to adjust the size of the window, link plug-in windows when more than one is open, switch the plug-in parameter view, and route side chain source signals.

NB These are Global Commands. You can open the plugin windows for a track even if you can’t see the channel strip in any of the visible views. It’s kind of nice to be able to work with a plugin without the distraction of the standard mixer or channel views.
