Select Previous Region/Cell/Event or Move Marquee End (or Marquee Point) to Previous Transient ← — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Select Previous Region/Cell/Event or Move Marquee End (or Marquee Point) to Previous Transient ←

The classic left arrow. Select the previous “thing”. This is one of the highly overloaded key command — five more commands that take higher priority depending on context.

I wonder why they simply didn’t define it as multiple commands — the Marquee descriptions can be confusing.

Select regions in the Logic Pro Tracks area — Apple Support

To perform some edits on regions, you must first select the regions. You can select one or multiple regions, select regions on different tracks, and quickly select muted regions, overlapped regions, or regions meeting other criteria. Selected regions appear brighter in the Tracks area than unselected regions.

Marquee tool: Use to select and edit region parts by dragging across them. The Marquee tool looks like a crosshair.

Select Previous Region/Cell on Focused Track ← — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Select Previous Region/Cell on Focused Track ←

Selects the previous region. The selection is _circular_. If the first region on the track is selected the command will wraparound and select the last region on the track. OK by me.

The specific command is not documented any more than its entry in the list of Global Commands.

Play Next Scene — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Play Next Scene

Play the next scene (to the right) on the Live Loops grid.

Here we document _scene_ — a column in the grid

Start and stop Live Loops cells in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You can start and stop cells individually, or start and stop all the cells in a scene (a column in the grid) simultaneously. Only one cell can play on a track at any time. You can select one or more cells in different scenes and queue them to play together. While a cell is playing, a circular indicator in the middle of the cell shows the current playback position.

Novation Launchpad buttons overview — Apple Support

In Session mode you use the Scene buttons along the bottom of the Launchpad to trigger scenes in Live Loops. You also use the Scene buttons in Mixer mode to perform different functions. The Scene buttons are labeled slightly different, depending on the Launchpad model you are using. Unless noted otherwise, this document refers to the Scene buttons labeled from left to right as follows:

In the land of Ableton scenes are horizontal and made up of clips. In Logic scenes are vertical and contain cells.

Session View — Ableton Reference Manual Version 10 | Ableton

The horizontal rows are called scenes. The Scene Launch buttons are located in the rightmost column, which represents the Master track (see 15.4). To launch every clip in a row simultaneously, click on the associated Scene Launch button. This can be very useful in organizing the live performance of a song with multiple parts.

Apply Normalize Region/Cell Gain Again ⌃G — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Apply Normalize Region/Cell Gain Again ⌃G

I habitually change Region gain on tracks that I mix. My current target is peaks of -12 dB. I don’t change region gain if all of the tracks come from a “live” performance where players are typically self-adjusting. In those cases I work with the faders all set to about -9 dB to start.

Normalize audio regions in the Tracks area — Apple Support

You can normalize the gain of selected regions in the Tracks area, without opening the regions in the Audio Track Editor. The Normalize Region Gain menu command is non-destructive: the original file isn’t altered, so you can return it to its original state.

Set Step Color by Row Color — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Set Step Color by Row Color

Set the color of the selected step to the color of the row. Akin to setting region colors according to track colors.

Everything old is new again. Step Sequencing. NB each cell in a sequence can be a sequencer.

Logic Pro Step Sequencer overview — Apple Support

Each pattern region or cell functions as an independent step sequencer, with its own configuration and settings. You can copy and move pattern regions like other regions in the Tracks area, while pattern cells can be copied, moved, triggered, and queued like other Live Loops cells. You can modify pattern region and cell parameters in the Region inspector or Cell inspector, respectively.
