  Note “F#” T

Insert an F# from the Musical Typing keyboard.

Use step input recording techniques — Logic Pro X

Step input allows you to insert MIDI notes when you’re not recording in real time. You can use step input to create note runs that may be too fast for you to play or to replicate sheet music that’s too difficult for you to play.

  Import… ⌘I

Get resources from external sources. All kinds of resources.

The default help for the Import command brings up “Import groove templates”. Hmmm.

I need to remember to turn on Quick Help so I can use the ⌘/ keyboard shortcut to open Logic help for the command that the cursor is hovering over. Logic Remote help function will do a similar thing, bring up the help for the function or area that the cursor is pointing to.

Set Note Color By Region Color — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day. #LogicProX @StudioIntern1

Set Note Color By Region Color

MIDI notes. Audio regions don’t have notes. It would seem kind of useless to set note color by region since most all MIDI regions start out as green. But what if we change them?

It hardly occurred to me to change the MIDI region colors, but it really does make a difference when looking at an arrangement.

Just like color-coding tracks that are bused together.

It’s all about being aware of what you see as well as what you hear.

Change the color of notes in the Piano Roll Editor — Logic Pro X

You can change the color of notes in the Piano Roll Editor to display note velocity, region colors, or MIDI channel colors. By default, notes correspond to the region color.

MIDI channel strips overview — Logic Pro X

MIDI channel strips in the Mixer work as remote controls for the mixing parameters of your MIDI-controlled sound modules and synthesizers, such as volume and pan.

New Instrument — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  New Instrument

Creates a new instrument.

What I know about EXS24 is that it is the “basic” sampler/sample player (24-bit) that provides almost all of the Logic built-in instruments.

What I read most from people who use EXS24 is that the interface needs to be changed to be more “modern”. Personally, if I compare it to the samplers I first knew about the EXS24 is just fine. Complex, of course, but that’s the tool.

The “new” sample tool for Logic is ‘Alchemy’ (Camel Audio lives!).
