Closes the currently selected track stack. I use summing track stacks to work with “stems”, and to help organize the tracks. When I want to work on a stack I simple select the stack and switch the mixer view to ‘Single’. This places the AUX, all the channels that route to the AUX, and the output path from the AUX (mix, sends, stereo out). Very handy.

Folder stacks (VCA groups) provide a simple visual way to control volume, solo, and mute for the group.

Summing stacks work like sub-mixes with inserts and sends.

Create and edit Track Stacks in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You can hide the subtracks of a Track Stack to save space in the Tracks area, or show them in order to record or edit. You can add or remove tracks from a Track Stack, and reorder tracks in a Track Stack (reordering tracks doesn’t affect the sound).

Assign the selected pad to exclusive group 3. There are 8 exclusive groups possible.

Exclusive Group: Choose a group for the pad. You can assign multiple pads to the same group. As soon as one drum sound in the group is triggered, all other sounds in that same group are stopped. For example, you could group three pads with open, semi-closed, and closed hi-hat sounds. Only one of these sounds can be played at a time, mirroring the behavior of real hi-hats.

  Snap Mode: 1/16 Triplet (1/24)

Set the snap grid to 1/24th notes — a 1/16th note triplet.

By default, the Snap functionality is relative, so that when you move notes or other items, they retain their relative distance from their original position. You can override relative positioning with the Snap Notes to Absolute Value option.

Crop Sample: Crops (cuts) the portion(s) of the sample outside the start and end markers.

  Create Lane Set

Creates a lane set so you can focus on certain MIDI events out of the many possible.

Use Lane Sets in the Step Editor in Logic Pro — Apple Support

The Lane Set functions let you limit the Step Editor display to only the required MIDI event types. For example, imagine you have recorded a synthesizer lead MIDI region. You could create a Lane Set that contains individual lanes for each note pitch in the region. Drag each note event step vertically to adjust its level. Within the same Lane Set, you could create two more lanes to control the lead synthesizer’s filter cutoff and resonance parameters, allowing you to create or precisely edit filter changes.

The Step Editor is a graphical editor that can be used to create or edit MIDI note and controller data. You can use the Step Editor to view and edit different MIDI event types, shown as vertical beams—or steps—along a timeline within a region.
